2/4 – 2/10

February 5, 2008

The goal for this week… well we really need to decide on our placement of walls in the back for the guest bath, master closet, laundry and back entrance (DONE on the 9th). Uncles with buidling experience have been recruited to offer advice. The most recent advice (from a few people) was to remove the hallway down the center of the house. That space is better used in rooms and now the new path from the front to the back is through the kitchen and dining room. Which in a small house I would be against but the rooms are large and a path through them isnt a terrible thing. By making this change we now have a good sized laundry and plenty of closet space for both rooms as well as closets for the front and back door. Once the walls are in place we can start planning our wiring and plumbing. The rest of the ceilings should be cleaned and primed by the end of the week (not done :( dining room ceiling still needs to be cleaned).

A new wall

February 5, 2008

Last week we finished rebuilding the wall from the old bathroom. Also layed the plywood floor and put up OSB. Still need to install siding and fix a few shingles on the roof. Waiting for Home Depot to transfer the roof warranty into our name and get the style of shingles for replacement.newwallsmall.jpg

Painted Ceiling

So here are a few pictures from last week. The ceiling was cleaned with TSP then painted with primer. Still needs some caulking and a final coat of paint, but they look great. ceiling1small.jpgceiling2small.jpg
